Privacy isn't a legal footnote here — it's how the product is designed. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it.
1. What we collect
- Account data: your name, email, and profile picture from Google when you sign in.
- Uploaded content: the chat export file you choose to upload, only for as long as we need to generate your Wrapped.
- Payment metadata: Razorpay order and payment IDs — never your card number, UPI ID, or bank details.
- Basic usage logs: anonymised, aggregated analytics to fix bugs and improve the Service.
2. How we use it
- To generate your personalised Wrapped report.
- To send the AI (Claude / GPT via Emergent) the chat text needed to produce insights.
- To keep you signed in and let you re-open your saved Wraps.
- To detect abuse, prevent fraud, and improve reliability.
We never share, sell, rent, or misuse your data. We do not use your uploads to train any AI model.
3. Data retention & deletion
You choose what happens to your file at upload time via the retention selector:
- Analyze & Delete (default): the raw upload is permanently deleted from our servers within 24 hours of report generation. Only the structured Wrapped stats remain.
- Save Results Only: the raw upload is deleted within 24 hours; the generated Wrapped is kept in your account until you delete it.
- Save Everything: both the raw upload and the report are kept in your account until you delete them.
Regardless of the option chosen, you can permanently delete everything — uploads, reports, and account data — with one click from your dashboard, or by emailing contact@thechatwrapped.com. Deletion requests are honoured within 7 days.
4. Your rights (GDPR, UK-GDPR & similar)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or any jurisdiction with comparable data-protection laws (India's DPDP Act, California's CCPA/CPRA, Brazil's LGPD, etc.), you have the following rights over your personal data:
- Right of access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask us to delete your data.
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to restrict or object to processing — pause or limit how we use your data.
- Right to withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting past lawful processing.
- Right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@thechatwrapped.com from the address on your account. We respond within 30 days.
5. Third parties we work with
- Google — for sign-in only. Governed by Google's privacy policy.
- Razorpay — for payment processing. Governed by Razorpay's privacy policy.
- Emergent LLM providers (Anthropic Claude / OpenAI GPT) — for generating your Wrapped insights. Uploaded chat text is sent to the model to produce your report and is not retained for training.
6. Security
- Encrypted uploads (HTTPS) and encrypted storage at rest.
- Secure authentication via Google — we never see or store your password.
- Audit logging for admin actions.
- Privacy-by-default settings across the product.
7. Children
thechatwrapped is not intended for anyone under 13 (or the minimum age required by your local law). If you believe a child has uploaded data to the Service, contact us immediately and we will delete it.
8. Updates to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest version. Material changes will be announced on the site.
